The New York Aquarium

Gone Fishing in New York City

They offer classroom instruction, teacher training and exciting public Fishing events!
Charles A. Dana Discovery Center at Central Park
Located in the family friendly Central Park, the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center provides education and activities for children of all ages. Located on the northern shore of the Harlem Meer (see page 20 for more information on Fishing here), the Dana Center is Central Park’s newest building. Opened to the public in 1993, it offers a wide range of the Central Park Conservancy’s free education and community programs, seasonal exhibits and holiday celebrations.
60th Annual Macy’s Fishing Contest
Audubon Center, Prospect ParkSince 1947 families in New York City have been coming to the annual R.H. Macy’s Fishing contest. A rite of passage for Brooklyn kids over the generations, this is a perfect way to introduce your children to fishing. The contest runs for a week every July and is held on Prospect Lake at the Prospect Park Audubon Center at the Boathouse.
